Our client is a leading U.K based group involved in rice farming, processing and marketing of their retail brands in Uganda and East Africa that requires personnel to be based on their 3900 Ha. Farm located in the Bugiri district of Uganda thirty km from Kenyan border. They wish to recruit competent individuals to fill the vacancies below.

Head of Farm Machinery

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall functioning of the Farm Machinery and Mechanization Department.
• Responsible for deployment of all Farm Machineries and implements for all agricultural operations in the field.
• Responsible for deployment of all Commercial Vehicles for transporting of men and materials with in the farm like farm inputs, farm outputs and other materials purchased from time to time.
• Liaising with all the departments concerned with Aerial Operations in the farm.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining a Preventive Maintenance Schedule for all the Farm Machinery and Farm Implements.
• Responsible for all repairs, breakdown maintenance of all Farm Machinery and Farm Implements.
• Responsible for deploying the operators, drivers and mechanics on a day-to-day basis.
• Identifying and commercially evaluating the various farm mechanization opportunities.
• Being the member of the purchase committee, responsible for identifying various sources for spares and servicing needs of the Farm Mechanization and Machinery Department.
• Performance evaluated based on the improved machinery usage efficiency

Basic Requirements:

• B.Tech. Experience in Farm Machinery and Implements, analytical and leadership skills;
• at least 5 years in a manufacturing company at a supervisory role.

Workshop Technicians

Key Duties:

• service and maintenance of tractors, combines and agricultural implements.
• Coordination of farm engineering works, responsible for the performance of the farming operations, including land ploughing, harrowing, rotovation, land development and harvesting.

Basic requirements:

• Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Automobile Engineering.
• 5 -10 years in large scale farming projects.
• The ideal candidate will have a practical and pragmatic approach and most importantly character based and possesses the drive, enthusiasm and motivational skills that get results.
• He must be a self-starter who takes responsibility for his own actions.
