Country Representative

Reports To: Ashoka Regional Director/Diamond Leader

The role of the Country Representative (CR) is to work closely with the Regional Director (RD) by serving as the functional head of the Ashoka Arab World Office. These tasks range from the long- and short-term mechanics and logistics of running the office to ensuring the implementation of larger strategy objectives.

In conjunction with the RD, the CR will supervise and oversee all Ashoka Arab World programs. These include, but will not be limited to: Development; Venture; Fellowship; Media and Marketing; Internship and Volunteering. On the local level, the CR is responsible for writing a performance plan at the beginning of the year that lays out the yearly office goals. The CR will communicate with the Program Officers on a regular basis to ensure that the office is on track in regards to final deliverables.

The CR must also oversee budgeting and spending, ensuring that the office adheres to the budget set forth at the beginning of the year, following up with each program four times a year to make sure the budgetary needs have not changed drastically.

The CR will also be responsible for fundraising activities, and in this capacity the CR is to reach out to potential donors, utilizing using his/her contacts to expand Ashoka’s support network. In addition to reaching out to new sources of funding, the CR will maintain relationships with current donors in order to promote continued involvement. Additionally, the CR will oversee regular monitoring and event follow-up reports sent to donors. The CR will work with the RD and Development Officer to spearhead local fundraising efforts and events.

Regionally, the CR will facilitate conversation and meetings with other Ashoka Country Representatives in each Ashoka Regional Office. These meetings are intended to clarify regional goals and serve as a forum to exchange best practices and ideas. The CR will attend an annual regional strategy meeting, where regional strategy goals will be decided, and will implement the strategy in the local office.

Finally, the CR is the focal point between Ashoka Arab World and its Regional Advisory Board. The CR will attend 2 meetings a year with the Board, and be responsible for ongoing engagement. These meetings will serve both as brainstorming and strategizing sessions for Ashoka Arab World.
A successful candidate must be flexible, have the ability to work and multi-task in a fast paced environment, and be entrepreneurial. The CR must also be able to work within both business and social sectors.

Experience:
• 10 years of relevant experience is required in managing a team of at least 10 individuals
• Experience working with international organizations
• Proven development and Fundraising experience on an international level
• Experience with organizational strategic planning

Other Qualifications:
• Entrepreneurial, a leader, independent with sound judgment, service oriented, excellent communication skills, excellent writing skills, flexible.

• Must be of Arab origin
