The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children is seeking a compelling Deputy Director to lead our Accounting division.

Purpose:
The successful candidate will report to the Comptroller and will be an active leader in the finance team, with responsibility for the establishment and implementation of the accounting policy framework and technical accounting advice and for the design, development and support of key financial reporting procedures and systems which provide for the protection and safeguarding of assets and the prudent use of resources. S/he will plan, organize and direct the activities of the accounting function, provide leadership for financial statement preparation in compliance with applicable standards and regulations and for financial analysis, reporting and decision-making support for key business activities, partner with key internal stakeholders to instill a financial mindset across the organization and represent organizational interests with external government, donor and UN system stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:
- Professional accounting designation (Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant or equivalent qualification) or advanced university degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- At least 15 years of professional accounting or financial auditing experience with the last 5 years at international level
- Demonstrated experience with financial management and accounting system applications and system conversion preferred
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Fluency in English and another UN language, proficiency in French or Spanish an advantage
