Intern-Improved Cookstoves

Starting Date: As soon as possible (minimum period of 4 months)

Background

SNV Vietnam is looking for an intern as part of the Renewable Energy (RE) team. Recently the RE
team of SNV started to develop new programs besides the very successful household biogas
program that was developed since 2003. One of the current programs under development is about
Improved Cookstove. SNV will have an capacity building role within the ICS project(s) building upon
the existing (technical) knowledge and experience within the Vietnamese market. Institutional
development and supply chain strengthening will be an important part of the program. The
potential market for ICS is very large within Vietnam, a country with over 90 million inhabitants.
Intern Position
Depending on the profile of the intern at least the following tasks have to be performed:
- Market study
o including potentially partner selection
o including field visit(s)
- Business plan development for optimal market approach
- Involvement in ICS selection and optimalisation
- Assistant the RE team with other ICS related issues.
The intern must meet the following skills and qualifications:
- University graduated or coursing the last academic year in a subject relevant to industrial
engineering, energy science, economics, business, international development, etc.
- Basic work experience in general
- Experience with Improved Cookstoves is an advantage.
- Interest in development and fight against poverty and inequality
- Solid knowledge of English
- Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Internet
The intern should possess the following competencies:
- Results-oriented, responsibility, able to work independently
- Respect for diversity, ability to work in teams, communication, creativity and commitment
to continuous learning
Benefits
SNV will pay the intern a living allowance and local travelling expenses when the intern is required
to work in the fields out of the working station in Hanoi.
He/she will benefit from working with multi-national team of professionals with rich and diverse
fields of expertise.
