The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) recently reached a strategic decision to apply the techniques it has used successfully to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria treatment in developing countries to essential vaccines. Rotavirus and pneumococcal pneumonia currently kill approximately 800,000 children each year, with 80% of these deaths occurring in the developing world. By scaling up the coverage of vaccines in developing countries to 90 percent– including importantly the new vaccines for rotavirus and pneumococcal pneumonia – the lives of 7.6 million children could be saved over the next decade.
The Vaccine Delivery Systems Manager will lead a team of professionals and be responsible for the continued development and execution of a comprehensive strategy to transform the in-country delivery of vaccines in order to improve the overall efficiency of new vaccine introduction in four high-burden countries in Africa. The Delivery Systems Manager will have significant opportunity to shape CHAI’s approach in supporting the implementation of effective delivery interventions, requiring exceptional team management skills to guide rigorous analysis towards the development and execution of high-impact interventions.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding analytical, management, and communication skills. The candidate must be able to function independently and flexibly, have deep personal commitment to producing results, and have the demonstrated ability to lead in a challenging professional environment. Experience living and working in Africa, experience working on supply chain issues, and knowledge of vaccines are all plusses. |
