The purpose of the role is to provide technical leadership and support in developing and implementing the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Economic Development Strategy including contribution to enhancing the organizational capacity for effective Economic Development programming and promoting continual learning and innovation in alignment with the LAC Regional and Global Strategies and policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate and contribute to development of regional strategy and global Economic Development strategies, priorities and plans
- Provide technical support the National Offices in developing effective Economic Development strategies and plans appropriate to their context in alignment with the regional and global strategies and priorities
- Lead the development and implementation of regional Economic Development secondary strategy and business plan in support of and in alignment with regional (including sub strategies) and global strategies and priorities.
- Support I.M. collaboration closely with Regional Vision Fund Director to ensure optimal integration and collaboration between Vision Fund and Economic Development strategic directions and programming within the region.
- Provide technical leadership in the implementation of FedNET including Technical Resources Coordination as required.
- Promote and contribute to the ED Community of Practice website on wvcentral to share knowledge and experience with others around the partnership.
- Facilitate / coordinate involvement of LAC Region in relevant Global / regional Economic Development initiatives / events (both internal and external) including Country, Regional and Support Offices and Global Center
- Provide technical leadership to staff of regional and multi country Economic Development projects and initiatives
Promote the capacity building at NOs. - Contribute to the development of Economic Development programming models fully integrated with all Integrated Ministry areas
- Act as a strategic link and focal point for regional Economic Development connecting National Offices, Support Offices and Global Center to mutual support.
- Post graduate qualifications and / or Professional background in Economic Development / business or other relevant field
- Knowledge in international Economic Development standards (including microfinance)
- At least five years of experience in management of Economic Development interventions / microfinance at a national or regional level
- Experience in Economic Development / microfinance programming in developing countries
- Significant leadership experience in an international organization
- Experience in writing proposals for grant funding
- Experience in working in LAC countries
PREFERRED: - Knowledge in programming resources and tools in Community based Economic Development programming
