2011-2012 Fellowship Program in Cameroon

The Youth Advocacy Network is currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Fellowship Program in Buea, Cameroon (August 2011 - June 2012)

Fellows will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Update and enhance current new media advocacy curriculum which includes lessons in email, social networking, web-based research, basic website design, podcasting and video production (20%)
  • Teach New Media Advocacy classes to young people a maximum of five afternoons a week (25%)
  • Design and teach weekend seminars that fulfill community needs (15%)
  • Maintain YAN’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and YAN blog) (20%)
  • Redesign and/or maintain YAN’s website (TBD based upon fellow’s skills)
  • Research and apply for grants (TBD based upon fellow’s skills)

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently
  • Previous experience in the developing world or a demonstrated interest in development
  • Previous experience working with young people
  • Knowledge of Indesign, Windows Movie Maker, podcasting and basic website design
  • Experience and/or interest in grant writing preferred

Compensation:

YAN fellows will receive housing and a modest living stipend during their stay in Cameroon. Fellows are responsible for transportation, visa fees and travel insurance.
