The Youth Advocacy Network is currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Fellowship Program in Buea, Cameroon (August 2011 - June 2012)
Fellows will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Update and enhance current new media advocacy curriculum which includes lessons in email, social networking, web-based research, basic website design, podcasting and video production (20%)
- Teach New Media Advocacy classes to young people a maximum of five afternoons a week (25%)
- Design and teach weekend seminars that fulfill community needs (15%)
- Maintain YAN’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and YAN blog) (20%)
- Redesign and/or maintain YAN’s website (TBD based upon fellow’s skills)
- Research and apply for grants (TBD based upon fellow’s skills)
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently
- Previous experience in the developing world or a demonstrated interest in development
- Previous experience working with young people
- Knowledge of Indesign, Windows Movie Maker, podcasting and basic website design
- Experience and/or interest in grant writing preferred
Compensation:
YAN fellows will receive housing and a modest living stipend during their stay in Cameroon. Fellows are responsible for transportation, visa fees and travel insurance.
