International Dean and Director of Business and Administration

The Hague Institute for Global Justice (THIGJ) is a newly established independent centre of expertise with an international staff, based in The Hague, the city that has been a symbol of peace and justice for more than a century. The THIGJ is dedicated to the promotion of knowledge of law and justice as the basis of and in relationship to peace, security and social and economic development. It does so by synthesising the best and most innovative knowledge in these areas from national and international sources, with the aim of mobilising various disciplines, actors and geographic and cultural perspectives. The objective is to develop an integrated approach towards issues where the lack of law and justice could lead to political, military, social or economic instability and inequality. Innovative combinations of research, knowledge transfers and valorisation in multi-stakeholder international partnerships are central to the working methods of the THIGJ. By assembling the best multidisciplinary knowledge and expertise that the world has to offer, the THIGJ seeks to acquire a strong international competitive position.

The THIGJ is currently seeking an International Dean and an Director of Business and Administration, who are highly motivated and qualified, have an entrepreneurial spirit and who have demonstrated affinity with the mission and objectives of the organisation.

INTERNATIONAL DEAN

The position requires a highly experienced professional with extensive experience and affinity with initiating and carrying out international, interdisciplinary academic research that is relevant to the fields in which the THIGJ operates; proven capacity to manage and embrace the opportunities and challenges of an innovative and growing institution in an international environment; extensive international academic and management experience; track record in building and developing networks in the international public and academic sector; knowledge of and experience with international organisations and the international courts and tribunals located in The Hague.

Responsibilities include: Chair of the Executive Board of the Institute; safeguarding and maintaining the mission of the THIGJ by composing and implementing the substantive long-term programme; setting up and maintaining relevant networks of (international) stakeholders; obtaining resources for the long-term financing of the THIGJ.

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS AND ADMINISTRATION

The position requires a highly experienced professional who has a strong track-record in acquiring (international) assignments; extensive experience in a comparable position and working environment; proven qualities and experience in managing people and medium-sized organisations; fluent English, active knowledge of Dutch and of at least one other official languages of the UN.

Responsibilities include: member of the Executive Board; higher level management of administration, production, marketing, operations, quality; responsible for the acquisition of paid international research and advisory assignments; obtaining resources for the long-term financing of the THIGJ; coordinating, organizational leadership, ensure that developmental plans are designed to meet organizational goals and objectives; supporting the initiation and securing of (inter)national research, advisory, coaching and training projects and assignments and setting up and maintaining relevant networks with national and international stakeholders.
