£23,090 - £29,954 net p.a. + benefits
The Middle East, Eastern Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States include many countries with a wide range of unique – and complex – problems. What unites them all is a need for far-reaching livelihoods programmes and a campaign on Food Justice in a resource-constrained world. Join us and not only will you immerse yourself in their individual cultures and needs, you’ll also play an instrumental role in finding lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
The role
You’ll make sure we’ve got innovative livelihoods programmes in place that are relevant and provide effective support to the people they’re aimed at helping. That will involve working closely with around 10 country teams to really get to know the key issues and feeding that research into programme design and campaigns development. You’ll take a view on individual country contexts, particularly the key economic and policy issues. And you’ll use your knowledge to support the regional management team with expert advice and develop the capacity of regional staff.
What we’re looking for
Given the scope of this role, you’ll need to have considerable experience of designing imaginative livelihoods programmes that address areas such as market access, value chains and private sector engagement. You’ll understand how economic, gender, social and environmental issues all impact on each other and be able to tie these relationships into programme design. And alongside that knowledge and experience you’ll have a genuine talent for advocacy and campaigning in a development context. Chances are you’ll be working with a similar NGO. But whatever your background you’ll have a sound understanding of this sector and be committed to Oxfam’s aims.
About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. And it’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. At Oxfam we believe that with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
